Fujifilm Finepix J10 with Broken Flash

Hi, the flash on my Fujifilm Finepix J10 with Broken Flash mysteriously stopped working. It worked fine one day, then the next it wasn't; I didn't drop it or anything.

I've tested the flash on Forced Flash and Auto Flash and nothing happens.

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Thanks

I have the same problem. It's not you it's the camera. After 2 months the flash stopped working. I fiddled a bit and got it to shoot a few times switching to Macro Mode somehow but it stopped working again. I thien updated the J10 Firmware(to 1.3) and it fired the flash once then stopped working again. So I give up on Fuji products now. This is sad because my first real digtial camera almost 10 years ago was a Fuji which gave great pictures (as does the J10) but the flash issue is makes me look at a Panasonic for Canon.

So I set "Babymode" which doesn't use a flash and gave it to my kids to use with the message "Never buy Fuji products" and relate this story in every social gathering where subject of Cameras take place.

Fuji, please update your firmware so it gets rid of this problem versus telling customers "to bring it in for repair and we'll charge you for more than the value of the camera even if it stopped working after 2 months and you never registered it."

Same here - I have a friend who has the same issue with the flash suddenly not working for apparently no reason. I did find some forums which led me to think that it may have something to do with my attempt to run the camera in silent mode, but changes to silent mode didn't bring the flash back . . .

I have the same mysterious flash problem. I had just bought a pack of lithium batteries since the camera was such a battery hog. I have a fuji s4400. I took about 100 photos on the lithium batteries and the flash stopped working. When I removed the batteries, they felt warm. I thought well, maybe I'll just revert back to regular batteries and it still didn't fix the problem. I even went as far as resetting the camera back to factory setting.
