Image auto download to computerChieh, I bought your book today and skimmed through looking for a particular solution. After a camera is triggered I need the image to automatically download to a computer. I am capable to do programming and build electronics. I thought of making an adapter between the camera memory card slot connector and a USB cable connected to a computer. When the camera sends an image to the memory card it would instead be sent directly to a computer. I find that SD cards support three protocols: 1-Bit, 4-Bit, and SPI. Do you know which one cameras typically use? Does this sound practical? Is there a better solution? I will buy a camera for this and I am willing to hack it. My purpose is to take pictures of jewelry for a friend who has a store. After the camera is triggered and the image automatically downloaded, the operator would preview it for quality, and enter a filename for storage. The conventional approach of reading the card with a computer and renaming the images later leaves much room for mistakes. Mark Rainess Look at Canon's digital cameras; especially the EOS line. They come with a software called RemoteCapture (or something similar to that name). It does exactly what you specified you wanted to do. And it does all that without you needing to hack them. Though I'm sure you might find some nitpicking features that you can build around it. Good luck. Let me know if you can't find what I'm talking about. Oh. And let us know if this solutions work well with your friend's jewelery needs. Chieh Cheng Thank you. Since I mailed you I borrowed a Digital Rebel 300D and tried the RemoteCapture software. It does what I need, so problem solved. Mark Rainess
