Charging generic NIMh batteries in easyshare docksKodak easyshare docks will recharge only kodak NIMh battery packs, however you can trick the camera into charging generic NIMh batteries because the camera has a small button in the battery compartment that the battery pack presses - indicated a kodak battery pack has been inserted. Simply stick a piece of plastic between the generic NIMh batteries such that it presses the button and the camera will recharge them as if they were the kodak branded batteries that cost twice as much. Doing this with alkaline or batteries other than NIMh may cause them to leak or explode, harming the camera. The switches other function than generating battery revenue is to prevent charging incompatable batteries. Be careful.

That's a cool hack. Got any picts of the small button in the battery compartment?

THANK YOU! This was just the trick I needed. I was racking my brain on this. I purched 2500 ahr batteries so we could get a little longer use while traveling, but I could not get the base to charge them. The charge took just great! Thanks for the posting.

THANKS Promethean. That switch is so small, it didn't look like a switch.
