Modifying an AC adapter

I have a rig of 7 cameras that i use for autostereoscopic photography. Instead of replacing the batteries every time is it possible to take a single AC adapter and splice the output to drive all 7 cameras? Obviously i could get 7 adapters to do the same job but it adds a significant amount of bulk to the setup.

thanks.

Like most technical question, the answer depends. If the single AC adapter you are talking about is the one specifically made for that camera, then the answer is no, you can't. Because that AC adapter doesn't supply enough current for all 7 cameras. It's probably made to support only one.

On the other hand, if you are willing to build your own power supply, or buy a custom-built power supply, than yes, you can. You have to get an AC adapter that can supply enough current for all 7 cameras. The max current on the AC adapter you have times 7 is probably a good number. That number is going to be high, so the custom power supply is probably going to be quite big and fairly expensive (but don't take my word for it). Once you have the power supply, you can run 7 pairs of parallel wires to each of the cameras. And you should be set to go.

If all this sounds too troublesome, then your only other choice is to get 7 individual AC adapters that are made for your cameras.
