adjust exposure on VistaQuest VQ1005

I got one of these for my niece. I happened to be in Wal-mart and saw that it would output a 1600x1200 image and about crapped my pants. For $20 it was worth the try. Of course she said she lost it and it broke before I was able to see what sort of images it would take. So I got one for myself. I have to say I am impressed. Added the 512MB SD Card to it and started using the rechargable batteries today to see what it will really do.

I was reading someone say, the ride the rail article. Adjust the exposure by the shutter. How does one do that? I see the switch for landscape/portrait, do you have to hold the button down longer?

I have not seen anything about adjusting the 'exposure'; I see no way to do that, but if you mean adusting the focus, all you need do is remove 5 screws, pull the halves apart and turn the lens. Like others, mine was focused far too close, only a few feet. I reset mine and now get far better results with distant subjects. I have been trying to set mine to the "hyperfocal" distance and hope to post some results in the near future.

A few words of caution about my note above: It is quite easy to damage this camera and I encountered some minor damage during the many readjustments I tried. Anything you may try is at your own risk. I found the results worth the risk and consequences. You may not be so lucky.

Separating the halves of my camera broke an adhesive bond between the macro lever and the lens it turns, but the friction fit seems to work OK without the adhesive. I also bent the sounder as part of another experiment, and one of the screw holes was stripped perhaps from repeated tightening. But I wanted the camera to focus on more distant objects and am please with the results so far. However, many users probably will prefer the close focus my camera came set at -- it did a pretty fair job on full frame face shots using the macro setting, but anything distant was blurred.
