Panasonic is a Japanese multinational corporation headquartered in Osaka, Japan. They are well known for electronic products. They produce variety of products under the names Panasonic and Technics. They also produce non electronic products and services. Panasonic was ranked 89th in the world's largest company list in 2009. Panasonic unveiled its new point and shoot digital camera called Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2.
The dimension of the camera is 99 x 63 x 24 mm. DMC-TS2 has a 14.1 Megapixels of image resolution. It gets included with a ½.33 inches CCD type of sensor. It has a Leica lens having focal length f3.3 to f5.9. The optical zoom of the lens is 4.6x. The magnification ratio is 1.3x. The total zoom ratio will be 6x. It contains a 2.7 inch LCD having 230,000 dots. The image ratio varies from 16:9, 4:3 and 3:2. The sonic speed AF captures the subject in 0.24 second at wide end and 0.28 second at tele end. The short start-up time of the camera is 1.1 second.
It incorporates a power O.I.S (Optical Image Stabilization). The O.I.S doubles the repression power of the camera. The wide angle lens makes the shooting easier in under water or a typical shooting angle. It has a new feature called image processing technology and intelligent resolution which gets incorporated with the Venus Engine HD II. In intelligent resolution, the images taken are clear and perfect in both audio and video shooting. The intelligent resolution feature powers the intelligent zoom feature and enhances the digital zoom capacity for high quality pictures.
DMC-TS2 has some special characters. It contains waterproof resistance up to 10 m (33 feet). Shockproof resistance up to 2 m (10 feet), dustproof and freezeproof to -10 degree C (14 degree F). The camera features an airtight body which can be protected from water, dust and sand particles. This camera is attributed with rubber padding, reinforced glass and carbon. It features a sonic speed autofocus which enables the fast response time and shutter lag. DMC-TS2 can record HD quality videos in motion JPEG and AVCHD lite.
DMC-TS2 includes an intelligent Auto (iA) modem which automatically changes the settings according to the scenario and the user do not want to change any settings. The iA also reduces the blur and handshake. It improves the brightness, focus and exposure while shooting. The face recognition feature recognizes 15 human faces in total. It allows storing three different images of a single person for recognition. The happy mode optimizes the color, saturation and brightness and makes the photo or video more natural and vivid.
The intelligent scene selector automatically selects the best scene according to the shooting condition. There are six scene modes available with this camera. They are macro, scenery, portrait, night scenery, night portrait and sunset. The high dynamic mode is a newly added feature. When a scene gets pictured with moderate exposure having bright and dark area together then this mode makes the picture better one. This mode provides three options standard, art and B/W. The user has to decide and make the necessary effects on the picture to look artistic.
DMC-TS2 uses a DMW-BCF10 lithium ion rechargeable battery for the power. It can take 360 shots for a single full time charge. It bears a 40 MB onboard memory. It uses SD, SDHC or SDXC slots for storage purpose. DMC-TS2 is available in silver, orange, blue and yellow colors. Lumix DMC-TS2 is a brand new digital camera also known as DMC-FT2 in some countries. This camera has nice features in it and it is a love toting camera. Lumix DMC-TS2 will be a great choice for taking outdoor adventures.
