I am stripping down a Lumix DMC-LZ7 to put a different lens on it. I have taken off the lens stack, but when the camera boots up without it, it can't focus and so it give an error message that says "please turn camara off and then on again." Anyone have any ideas on how to fool the camera into taking pictures with a bare sensor? Thanks!

Do you mean that your new lens stack allows the camera to focus fine, but that the digital camera can't find the AF circuitry, so that it fails? Or is the AF circuitry intact, but because the lenses are not moving, the digital camera fails?
