Pentax K-5 Digital Camera Beats the Competition

One of the latest and greatest developments is the Pentax K-5 Digital Camera. It boasts a 16.30 Megapaixel resolution imaging sensor and 3-inch LCD viewfinder. This Pentax camera comes with a great kit lens: 3x zoom, 18-55mm. The camera can deliver seven frame burst rate and incorporating a wide ISO sensitivity range from 80 to 51200 equivalents.

Pentax has updated its high dynamic range mode in K-5, than that of the K-7, as HDR handheld shooting device, and provides a lot more degree of control over the look of the HDR effect that can be achieved in camera. Other additions include the latest creative and custom image filter effects such as a function of the process of the Cross revised, the effect of Bleach Bypass, and more. Also updated is the K-5's video mode, which captures video up to now Full HD (1080p) resolution, and contains a further two external stereo microphone jack, and ability to control aperture used for video recording. Especially appealing to designers, the K-5 now allows the use of some of it filter effect during video recording.

The K-5 appears unchanged externally compared to its predecessor the K-7, it is however slightly lighter. The Pentax K-5's exterior is made from a polycarbonate panel which is used around the LCD screen and fits halfway around the sides of the camera, for more controllability and comfort, whilst retaining its benchmark durable reputation, using a high tech steel and magnesium alloy chassis. The overall external dimensions are 5.1 x 3.8 x 2.9 inches (130.5 x 96.5 x 72.5mm).

Overall the Pentax K-5 is a very capable digital SLR camera, matching or surpassing their competition in many key areas, including image quality, performance and handling, and is especially impressive due to the fact it manages to do all this in a body that is much more compact than its main competitors. Waterproofing and deep cold seal allows the camera to operate in all extreme conditions, with second to none durability. The initial learning curve can be a little stiff, but the body of the K-5 fits like a glove, and works like a dream once you have familiarized yourself with its many controls. The price is still slightly higher than expected, but due to it being such a great designed phone with a reliable nature and with not much in the way of competition the Pentax K-5 Digital Camera is definitely worth every penny.
