Pentax Optio W90 -- The Majestic Digital Camera

Pentax Corporation is a Japanese optics company well known for producing cameras and sport optics. Pentax unveiled a new waterproof digital camera called Pentax Optio W90. Optio W90 delivers high quality pictures. It is a shock proof camera so it can withstand excess pressure up to 4 feet. This camera is dustproof and so the user can use this camera in sandy and dry areas like beach, desert etc. This camera can resists water up to 20 feet.

It has a 12.1 Megapixels of effective image resolution. It contains a 2.7 inch of LCD display having 230,000 dots which make easy to view the images captured by the camera. Optio W90 contains a 1/2.33 inches CCD type of sensor. The dimension of this camera is 108 × 59 × 25 mm (3.9 x 2.2 x 1.0 inches). The lens used in this camera gets constructed with a combination of 11 elements in nine groups. The lens contains five aspherical elements in it. The focal length of the lens is 28 to 140 mm. The optical zoom of the lens is 5x. The maximum and minimum apertures of the lens will be f/3.5 and f/5.5 respectively.

The ISO sensitivity ranges from auto, ISO 80 to ISO 6400. The shutter speed of this camera varies from 1/1500 of a second to 1/4 of a second. In night scene mode, the shutter speed will be 4 seconds. The image aspect ratio of this camera is 16:9. The digital zoom of the lens is 6.25 xs. The focusing modes available with this camera are macro, super macro, manual, pan-focus and so on. There are various scene modes available with this camera. Some of them are portrait, landscape, sport, candle-light, fireworks and so on.

The intelligent zoom function of this camera allows the user to take close zoom shot on the subject. It bears a face recognition function which provides casual shots. This face recognition feature automatically detects the faces in the image frame and focuses it with correct exposure. It comprises a smile capture mode which automatically releases the shutter when the camera detects the subject's smile. The blink detection function warns the user about the closed eyes of the subject during the time of shutter release. The new collage function is used to compose a single picture from a collection of pictures.

Optio W90 has a carabiner strap, which is used to hook the camera to a backpack or outdoor gear. The ink rubbing filter is used to create a high contrast, monochromatic image from a recorded image. The auto picture mode automatically selects the appropriate mode from the eight modes and gives better result. It contains 12 digital filters which add typical visual effects to the captured images. The digital wide function will create an extra wide angle image from two images. We can playback the photos and video on a high definition television using the built-in HDMI port.

The wide zoom range feature of this camera makes easy to view a wide variety of subjects and scenes from a spectacular landscape. It includes majestic architecture and group shots can be taken from a distance as a tight snapshot. The internal memory of the camera is 26.7 MB. It uses SD/SDHC memory cards for storage purpose. It uses D-LI88 lithium-ion rechargeable battery for power. The camera weighs 144 grams (4.8 ounces). Pentax Optio W90 is available around the rates of 299 to 330 US Dollars.
