Sony cybershot: I push power to turn on camera and get a black screen with the word 'access' and the lens goes in and out continually. Any suggestions? Battery is freshly charged, I've removed the memory card and replaced it...don't know what to do next.

hey i had the same problem. i tried the banging method but it didnt work. instead i turned it on and off twice, both times pulling the lens out each time it tried to open up. it worked the second time. i found this method on amazon.com so thanks to whoever posted it.

That's brilliant - have spent days looking round techy forums trying to identify the problem. I just dropped it from waist height onto my shag -pile rug (twice) and it's now fixed. Thanks!!!
