sony cybershot hx100v "turn power off then on" screen

My Sony cybershot hx100v keeps showing the "turn power off then on" screen everytime I try to use it. The lens moves out when it turns on then goes back in and the message pops up. I cant remember it being dropped ever and I cant figure out how to fix it. I have read many suggestions on here about this happening and all the owners had to do was tap it a few times and the message was gone. However, for me it did not work. So any advice or comments would be greatly welcomed.

In my case the uv lens added was too tight. As soon as I removed it and reinstalled the error went away. It must have prevented the camera lens from operating properly, hence the error.
