Canon Image Numbering Hack Needed

I'm on my third Canon PowerShot camera. Image numbering always starts with a folder 100CANON and pictures numbered IMG_0001.JPG, IMG_0002.JPG, etc.

How can I hack the information on the memory card, where I assume the numbering info is kept, so I can jump the numbering to, say, folder 130CANON and pictures will be numbered IMG_3001.JPG, etc.?

Thanks for any help!

When I switch flash cards between my Canon cameras, the camera always number the file based on the last image on the card.

Try creating 130CANON on your flash card. And put an IMG_3001.JPG in it. See if the camera picks it up.
