Can the Canon XTi be connected directly to a computer or external hard drive for recording a large number of images without having to switch out CF cards or download. Example....if you would be shooting a lot of portraits for a school or group.

I believe the answer to that question is yes. I believe you can connect it to your computer using the USB cable and use the included RemoteCapture software to shoot photos and transfer directly to your computer. It's meant for studio photographers.

B-4 you try to DL the pictures, install the software that comes with the camera. "EOS Digital Solutions" is one and "Software Instruction Manual" is the other. INSTALL THE SOFTWARE FIRST ! ! Then connect the XTi with the USB cable supplied. OR, and this is even a faster DL solution, buy a SanDisk Imagemate 12 in 1 model SDDR-89-V3 FOR ABOUT $15 usd and get the job done in half the time.
