Control of Canon SD300

Just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to control a Canon SD300 camera through USB, I want to set it up to do timelapse. I have a PC and a Mac. I've done a ton of research, but I can't find any definitive warnings that it just isn't possible. If anyone has any ideas of a cheap $300 or so camera that would be controllable, with 8sec or so exposure time that would be great. I'm looking to set it up outside shooting cars driving by with lots of streaky lights.

Thanks!!
Brian

RemoteCapture should have came along with your SD300. I believe it supports Interval Timer Shooting. Take a look at that and see if it supports what you need.
