Homemade remote shutter release for 350D

I have a question before I try and make one (thanks for the schematics, by the way). Will the camera try and autofocus if you press the shutter release button, or will it just release the shutter, even if it's out of focus?

I think I'm gonna head on to RadioShack tommorrow and give this guy a whirl.

Thanks

It depends on the camera and the mode. If you have the camera in manual-focus mode, then no focus attempts will occur.

If you are in auto-focus mode, and are in a mode where the camera will not fire unless focus has been achieved, then the camera will attempt to focus. However, the camera can only focus if you short pin 1 & pin 2.

In camera modes where the camera allows you to shoot without achieving focus first, you can short pin 1 and 3 directly without initiating auto-focus even in auto-focus mode.

Hi, I read the article about using a Mouse as a Shutter release fo the XT. I have an old logitech mx 518 that I would like to useto make this. I couldn't find the schematics however. I think I have an idea on how it works, but I don't wanna take the chance on messing it up. Could someone email me the schematics?

Thanks
