I have a canon rebel xs and I went to use it
a couple nights ago and it said all 3 of my cards
were write protected. I went and got out my new 4gb card to put in my camera and format, but it also said it was write protected. I've checked the side, none of them are locked. I attempted to format the new card on my computer but it had no results. The cards all work in my fathers camera. Could my camera be write protecting the cards? That seems to be the only explanation

I have the same problem - plus the dreaded Error 99. Camera is one year old...just out of warranty. Canon says they'll fix it for $211.00. What a rip!
I promised them that I will never, ever buy anything that says Canon on it ever again.
