Memory card locked on Canon IXY????

I just bought the 4GB DNA's SD card for my Canon IXY.
I inserted the SD card using my card reader and on my mac it works fine.
I can drag and drop any files into the card.
But when I inserted into my camera, it says "memory card error", and sometimes it also comes up saying "card is locked".

I don't know what to do because I already slide the lock switch on the left up to unlock the card, and in the computer it works fine.
I know the problem isn't about the camera because it works fine with any other SD card.
I would appreciate anyone replying to this problem.

First thing to check is whether your camera supports the new SDHC standard. The 4 GB SD Card is physically identical to the smaller 2 GB and under cards. However, their I/O signal are completely different. A non-SDHC compatible camera cannot use the 4 GB SDHC card. Any SD Card that is bigger than 2 GB are SDHC cards, because regular SD standard has an addressing limit of 2 GB.

hi there
I have the same problem however i had taken over 1000 photos on my 4gb memory card, no problem until all of a sudden it came up with the 'memory card locked' error.
My computer is not recognising that a memory card is instered. Can you please advise whether there is another way to see if i can access my photos?
Thanks for your help!

I don't think you have the same problem, rose, because the Canon IXY doesn't support 4 GB cards. So I don't know how you were even able to shoot photos onto that card.

Had the same issue (Card Error/Card Locked) with a Micro SD card in my Casio Power Shot. Come to find out I was inserting the adapter without the little "micro" memory card inserted with it. Never knew and looked like an idiot after calling Toshiba Customer support. Oh well live and learn!!
