Powershot G6 Hotshoe

Does anyoneone know the safe *current* as well as voltage for a Powershot G6? I want to build my own safe-sync, but also want to be 100% sure of not damaging anything.

Also, which of the two main contacts on the hotshoe is +ve, and which is -ve?

Does the Canon PowerShot G6 hot shoe look like the one in the picture below? If so, I suspect it is the same hot shoe interface as the Canon EOS system, which has a max flash voltage limit of 6 volts. Official Canon response: Re: Trigger voltage

Title: EOS Hotshoe pin assignment
Weblog: Camera Hacker
Excerpt: I really enjoy your Camera HAck site. Such a big help for me and my 300D. Anyway, is there any way that you could hack the EOS Hotshoe adapter? Wonder what the pins are carrying. Thanks.
