A friend bought the wrong battery grip for her camera (BG-E1) and gave it to me thinking it would be usable with my new XTi. A very insecure Canon customer svc rep said that the BG-E1 will not work with my XTi. Can anyone tell me if this is true or can I use the BG-E1.

The battery grip for the Digital Rebel XT and XTi is the Canon BG-E3. There is also a cheaper third party verion, which I have never used before: Opteka Battery Pack Grip.

I'm using the opteka on my XT. I just works, and
supports 2 batteries for a long run time. Mine came
with a AA battery insert too, but I've never used it.
