The new canon sr-n3 cable shutter release cable should work with canon cameras earlier than 2012.
I own a camera canon 60D which has the E3 and not the N3. Various adapters exist going from n3-e3 but I am wondering if any have used this cable and succesfully connected it from a canon speedlite to a E3 plug on a canon camera?

It may work. Need a E3 female to female adapter, which you can probably get at Radio Shack.
