My friend and I have the same camera, a Fuji Finepix S700 and hers drains her batteries as soon as she puts them in. She has even tried the rechargeable NiMH ones, charged them up, took one photos and the battery light flashed and the camera went out. I have the exact same camera and my batteries last for 6 months at least and I use my camera all the time, at least every other day. I can, and do, put dollar store batteries in mine and they still last 6 months. I take videos with my camera along with tons and tons of photos and it makes no difference, only need to change my batteries every 6 months or so. She can only take maybe 3 photos at a time on brand new batteries before they drain. She called Fuji and they said she needs to send her camera to them and for a minimum of $80, they can fix it. ??? This has been a problem with her camera from Day One. What gives? My camera is even older than hers.

I have a FinePix S8000fd, which I had bought in mid-2009. One year later, the camera started to drain batteries very quickly. At the moment, I can only take 50 or 100 shots within an afternoon on new batteries, but only if I save energy all the time (i.e., no flash, large screen turned off, switch camera off frequently). So I'm in a similar (though not as bad a) situation like your friend. I haven't found a remedy.

Thats a similar problem for me. Even if the batteries are new out of the pack it claims that they are out of juice and I can't take one photo before it complains about being out of battery and switches itself off. Would love some help on this.
