Custom Firmware / Hack for Stylus 770 SW

I want to be able to use the "Shoot & Select" mode (as many pictures fired off as possible in rapid sequence) with the self-timer mode. So, you'd push the shutter button, then have the camera countdown down, then fire off as many pictures as it could instead of just one.

Unfortunately, this isn't a built-in option. I'm wondering if there is a way to hack the firmware to do this? Maybe there's open-source firmware out there? Thought this would be a good place to ask after my google-fu failed.
