d: 3c85 error on E300

I have an E300 which is just 5 days out of warranty and now shows a 3c85 error whenever I take a picture. The picture is written to the card but the red writing light keeps blinking and the camera needs to be switched on and off to be able to take another picture. Any help is of course much appreciated!

best regards,

jeroen

Format the card using the camera. If problem persists then replace card.

I just tried to update my camera but it did not make the problem go away to the D : 3c85 code. Does anyone have any ideas?

I've got the same problem on a E-500. Just upgraded the disk but no improvement.

Yes, I too have this D:3C85 problem on an E-500; I too have reformatted the card (and of course lost what was on it) and the problem persists. Anyone got the definitive answer yet?

Defect shutter release.
The error code D: 3C85 is probably caused by a defect shutter release (shutter failure) (Google find DPreview.com). My cam sounds different too when making a shot. There is an extra click. This can be fixed by Olympus Service, but may be very costly.
Normally the shutter should last for at least 50,000 releases (~pictures taken). Mine is broken after 9000 (4 years of use). I think it is cheaper to buy a second hand E510 or E520 body and throw the defect cam it in the bin.

I took the lens off, laid the camera on it's back and took a few shots to see the shutter in action, and now it works consistently without the error code. Dunno why.

I also took the lens off, took a few shots and now it works properly
