Have a Digital Concepts 4.1 megapixel camera that I purchased from Wal-Mart, after Christmas. Bought a 512 Gig card (extra!), and it is a great camera. What is wrong with having to wait a few seconds for the camera to process the picture? Works great on the flash as well. Takes 2304 X 1728 pictures at 4 megapixels. Also gives the choice of 3Mp (2048 X 1536), 2 Mp (1600 X 1200), 1 Mp (1280 X 1024), and VGA (640 X 480). The resolution, even at VGA, is still exceptionally good. Paid about $60.00 for the camera at Wal-Mart. Start taking a number of flash pictures, and you will find that the two AA batteries will be drained in a little while. What do you expect? I passed up the camera model most of you seem to have purchased. Also-how can you expect to see an LCD preview screen in daylight? I still have the little sighting window on top of mine. Oh, I forgot to mention-it also allows rapid picture taking-mimicing a camcorder very well. NO complaints, thus far.

This message is for Josh and Rebecca, and anyone else who thinks they are superior to the rest of us. The cameras I purchased, the 4.1 versions, worked fine until the batteries died, then failed to work when the batteries were replaced. I paid $70.00 a piece, for two of them. This is definitely a problem. Maybe you do, but I don't have $140.00 to throw away. At any rate, it shouldn't matter if you pay $20.00 or $70.00 or more for a product, IT SHOULD AT LEAST WORK THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO! And if it doesn't the company should take responsibility! You two obviously don't have a clue.

The company I work purchased 9 of the 4.1 Megapixel digital cameras in hopes of having an added feature for customers. As it turnes out all we really did by buying 9 camera's and the memory cards for them and all the rechargeable batteries was screw our own company out of about $850.00.

bought the 4.1 megapixel verson at Walmart. First unit shorted out. Wal-mart replaced, second unit was replaced due to poor flash picture quality. third unit had some loose screws in it which I popped the unit apart and fixed. it may be that the first unit had loose screws as well and shorted out the flash unit. to pop the cover off, one screw at the usb port and one at battery. the silver cover on the lens side comes off. The first unit also had the battery marking wrong. if the batterys are reversed, the unit will not work. look inside at the permanent markings in the case. overall I have been using on a construction site 11 months with lots of abuse and outdoor daytime pictures work well ( usb port works thinks it is a memory stick with windows xp)

The 4.1 megapixel cameras are fairly decent (considering the price), but I have several gripes with it. For one, every time you turn off the camera, ALL of the changes you made to any of the settings reset back to the default. There is just a phone number to call, as the website listed in the booklet does not list my camera as a product that they sell. They do not display any information about the products at the website, and there is no support forum there. THIS CAMERA IS ONLY GOOD FOR PERSONAL USE. It is not of high quality, and I will definately do a lot more research before I buy another digital camera.

@ Anon.
Yes! I hate it when everything resets itself whenever I turn it off.
I hate it even worse when I change batteries and not change the date, then all my pictures have this '01/01/2005' stuck at the bottom of them.
And the time... Geez... I'm not slow, but it does take me a bit to translate '17:32:36' into '5:32'... And I could honestly care less about the time, even if it is measured down to the second...
[/Mine is a Blue 4.1 Megapixel, by the way.]
You know it sucks when you paid more for the SD card than the camera itself...

This week won a 4.1 digital concepts camera from ebay. Havent received it yet. $ 16.50 + $ 12.99 s&h. If it dont work I will ask seller for a refund minus the actual shipping charges, which I'm sure is less than the $ 12.99 or there will be negative feedback, and I will take the loss.
It does state though, it is guaranteed not to be DOA, or refund will be given. Glad I saved my online receipt.

I recently bought a 4.1 mp digital concepts camera from ebay and have to say when using the flash it does not take a very good picture, it is too bright but when using inside or out with good lighting i think it has a beautiful picture. Enclosed is one of them:

Wow...I was about to go buy the 4.1 megapixel camera but after reading the above comments..I don't think that I'm going to be buying one. Even though it's not very clear that the comments are about 4.1 but if the users are complaining about more than one product then buying one after reading comments would be taking a big chance.

Here's a funny story...I have the 57482 4.1 model, and I have called the company several times...I get the same guy answer EVERY time, no matter what time I call (he must work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). I told them there was no software, they give me a link. I find out like five months later (my fault for screwing with it that long) that they gave me the "wrong" link, and they gave me a different one (about three weeks after they told me they would send me the software and have tech support call me...they did not.) I just called again to go off on them because not only does the link not work, but the computer doesn't recognize my camera, and all my pics got erased...and iI had my son's pics that I've been taking since I had him...so I told the same guy I have talked to every time the camera sucks, and I've read that other people are saying the camera is junk, and they owe millions of people their money back...How the h$@#$@!!! are they still in business???

I purchased a 4.1 megapixel camera for my daughter for Christmas, and wasted my money on a second one for her for church camp (I assumed she had done something to the first one) The second one does the same thing. Either you have a too dark picture, a white picture, or a yellowish-orange picture. I have e-mailed the company and am awaiting a reply from them. Maybe is everyone e-mails them, they will find out what the problem is and correct it. You can email [email protected].

I FOUND my 4.1 in a parking lot. Bought new batteries, pluged it into my pc, and bam. I don't even know what I did, but I can retrieve my pics and vid clips. To think this camera won't work for people who pay for it, but ironically it works for a lucky jerk who found it. Kharma or what?

I bought the 4.1MP Digital Concepts camera at Wal-Mart for roughly around $50. I knew when I saw that it was blister packed that it was going to be pretty bad. Yet since my fiance (I'm a 20 year old guy, not a soccer mom) and I were going to the zoo that day I made a compromise and got it because I wanted to get some pictures and my HP 4MP camera finally went kaput after a year and a half. I also have a Pentax K1000 SLR that I brought too just in case the camera was that crappy.
I must say for the price you definitely get what you pay for, yet for $50 I was actually expecting a whole lot worse. The camera takes decent quality pictures and the previews on the back are a good resolution, its nothing to call home about but its not bad. I was also surprised to find out that it supported SD expansion card, which was good cause I have a 1GB I just got at a steal for $5 basically the day before. Now this isn't to say its by anyway a perfect camera that is for sure.
On the complaints side I have a few gripes that are livable. First when the camera is turned on any system settings that you have will be wiped clean. So if you set the camera pixel rating to 4.0 (its defaulted to 3MP every time!) and then switch off the camera to save battery, the turn it back on for a picture, you aren't shooting in as high of a resolution as you could be. I often forgot to turn it back and as such picture quality suffered (yet I was able to take roughly 2500 pictures in 3MP or 99:50 minutes of video) The other thing is the lag time that most people mention. Not only does a message pop up (versus the screen freezing with what it last "saw"). But the shutter actually takes a moment to pop so what you see before that pops up, and what you get, have about a 1-2 second delay. This was noticeable when I was trying to snap a moving animal in the middle of the frame. Also the last thing I didn't enjoy was how sporadic the quality was, on some moving things I got nearly crystal clear quality, and video wasn't half bad, even in a dolphin show I got good video of them flipping and jumping, yet some times I could swear I was holding it super steady and the picture would just come out blurred and distorted. Quick shooting was almost preferred. And finally the flash always over brightened pictures
Some more on the good side was the price, it was basically the cheapest digital camera out there that had a half-way decent MP rating, 4 x optical zoom isn't a preferred method for shooting but it definitely wasn't half bad. Built in support for pictbridge. Tripod hook up just in case. Was better than nothing.
So all in all its a painfully obvious lesson by now, you get what you pay for. If you spend $20 dollars on a digital camera, prepare to get something worse then if you would have actually aught the higher quality cameras. And since most start at $100, it should be just as painfully obvious how much worse you should expect. When I bought mine for $50 I took that gamble and I'm not very disappointed with the results, but you can bet your ass now that I'm going to return it, get the $50 back, and use that towards a good camera.
I bought it as a quick replacement that wouldn't break the bank, got some nice pictures, and was only limited by the crappy batteries I had. I would only recommend this on the basis that you are either A) Too damn cheap to afford something good B) Too damn poor to afford something good or C) Trying to replace your dead (yet probably still worth a whole lot more) camera for a day and are for sure planning on returning it tomorrow.
P.S. The manufacture card was in there telling you that if you are experiencing technical problems to not bring it back into the store because the employee will only look at you and go, "I really don't know anything about that camera" (especially since you got it at Wal-Mart welfare check capital of the world) This doesn't mean you can't RETURN it to them it just means if you have questions the manufacturer will know how to answer them much better then an employee at a retail outlet. SO QUIT FUCKING MENTIONING THAT STUPID CARD, SUCK IT UP AND RETURN IT UNDER 30 DAYS!!

I bought TWO of the 4.1 MP cameras from Walmart for my two step daughters. They beep too much and take FROEVER to take pictures. The flash makes everything way too bright even when it is on the auto mode meaning it is to use flash when IT feels the flash is needed. I think the software got tossed with the package because I can't find it. Is there a way to get the software elsewhere? My two teenage stepdaughters didn't want them because they are CRAP (and I agree) I gave them to my 8 and 9 year old. I paid $60 per each plus $15 per each SD card. I am burning up with anger about this. I assumed for the price it would be a good little camera for them to use. I was wrong and now I can't return it OR let the little kids use them. Any suggestions?

LOL!! I am AMAZED at how many people are bitching about this line of camera's!!! I have the 4.1 Megapixel. I bought it BECAUSE I needed a cheap, no fuss digital cam that I wouldn't care if it banged around in my purse or whatever.
All I wanted was something cheap to snap a lot of quick shots that produced a reasonable photo. And that's exactly what I got.
The worst post I read was someone asking how to turn it on?? PLEASE.
PEOPLE: READ THE OWNERS MANUAL!!! IT WILL TAKE YOU FAR!
There are quirks to the camera, but they are all things that are talked about in THE OWNERS MANUAL. The lag time, the "white out" indoor photo's, the "lost photo's" after the camera gets turned off, ALL of the complaints I read are things that are talked about, where? IN THE OWNERS MANUAL.
I greatly apologize for being quite sarcastic and snippy, but for the amount I paid, I got what I expected.
I did come to this forum looking for the company's website, and I'm just in awe over the comments.
Perhaps those of you who have so many problems do not have the 4.1 model that I have(I see there are "ok" comments about this model), but if your problems are SO bad that you cannnot find where to put batteries in, how to turn it on, or how to do simple functions, perhaps you shouldn't be spending your money on a digital camera, you should spend it on a good self-help book.

I purchased this camera on a whim while visiting Disney in Orlando at a WAL-Mart.
Because of the price, we thought it was a deal. But I Must confess,,,IT IS A PIECE OF ^%$@^%!!! I agree with everyone who has left a message on this page... IT is TOO SLOW and confuses the user. It makes you think you need skill to use it properly,, but does not deliver any precision AT ALL. ALSO ......we lost TWO WEEKS worth of photos because it is TOO EASY to delete ALL your photos by accident. THERE IS NO FAIL-SAFE FEATURE ...as MANY other Digital Cams. So we lost TWO weeks of photos of a vacation that only comes once every TEN years for us,, because we trusted in this company......THAT"s Not All!!!
My wife went on a trip recently to visit her parents whom she hasn't seen in two years to a place she hasn't seen in 15 years not thinking, she brought the same camera (Digi Concepts Model 57428) The same camera we purchased at WAL-MART........She returned the other day and asked me to download the photos onto her laptop... WELL need I say,,,,that all the photos were deleted because she shut the camera down after immediately after taking a last photo at the airport and it deleted every photo......WE CANNOT TRUST THIS CAMERA...Please follow my suit.... Throw the darn thing in the trash before you regret it as WE DO!!!!!!!!! Shame on DIGITAL CONCEPTS for creating such a piece of trash.....I am not even asking for my money back......cause that will not replace our loss.. but at least we can warn others to not fall for the same scam........I don't see how DIGITAL Concepts Camera people can make it up to us.....I've heard of User error, but hey guys.......in this case,,,,,,,it's creater error for sure!!!!!!!! Beware!!!!!!!!!!!

I am afraid to respond. I puchase 4 of these cameras (4.1) June of 2007 and everyone is happy with them. Mind of course stopped working in Oct. 2007. It would turn on, but with many colored lines, the image was frozen. I called customer service and was told to use rechargable batteries, and let it sit for 30 minutes and call back, if I still had the problem. I called back in 45 minutes and said it did not work. I was told to mail it to them with receipt. They would either repair it or replace it. Well, I had the original receipt and packaging. Within two weeks they replace my 4.1 with a 5.1 camera, and everything is working fine. I had a very good experence with Sakar. Yes, I did all this for a 19.99 camera. I am glad they honored their product. Sorry, to have read so many unhappy customer.

My daughter got a 4.1 megapixel. Won't turn back on after very few uses. Call Sakar customer service 877-397-8200. They are willing to do an even-exchange w/o proof of purschase, though they will not reimburse shipping costs. What if the replacement becomes useless?? They assured me that won't happen. Hmmm???
