Has anybody taken apart the 82379 3-in-1?

I'm trying to do an infrared mod to this camera, which neccesitates taking the thing apart. Unfortunately, I can only find one screw. Obviously it's held together by more than that, and I don't want to pry apart and break the casing, but I can't for the life of me figure out where any other screws are. Has anybody tried doing this before?

If you can't find any more screws, then the case is probably held together by plastic tabs on the inside. Carefully pry the case apart with a thin blade . . . just a small slit and see if you can spot where all the tabs are.

By the way, i like what you are doing . . . These Sakar cameras are cheap and are perfect candidates for experimenting.

Bingo! I just assumed that since there was one screw, there'd be more. But yeah..it just snaps apart. Thanks!

I've actually done the IR mod to another webcam, but it's not a portable camera, so this is my solution.

Cool! Got any pics of the inside? Is there an actual IR-blocking filter?

Whoops. Didn't mean to make that no-text.
Anyway, the camera does have an IR filter on it, but it's in such a way that I need to remove the lense to get at it. Unfortunately, the lense looks like it's glued in place and there may be no way of getting it out without damaging it. I suppose if I really wanted to, I could search for one that would fit in and break the lense and IR filter out of it.

Cool . . . have you try shooting pictures without the lens and see what kind of results you get? Without the IR-blocking filter and with no replacement clear glass, the camera would focus very close. You can get some extreme close up pictures with it. Though I don't know what kind of picture you'd get with no lens and imaging directly on the sensor . . .

Hey, I'm actually trying to part this camera out. Any ideas where I can get data-sheets? Ideas on removing the black cover from the 'magic-spot', without destroying everything underneath?

throw it away... they melted the lens/ir into place... yeah, real bright.
