DSC-P92 HACK infrared

Ok, I have hacked my DSC-P92 as you wrote

"So if you hack your DSC-P92, your camera will be able to perform one NightShot function: record infrared light."

but to be honest I only get violet pictures mo real infrared nice ones.

And second thing is: I have geat problems with auto focus to gain sharp pictures.

Is there anything I can do about that?

Thanks yso much.

The color shift is typical of an infrared photo. Your camera now sees ultraviolet and infrared, which is at two extremes of the light (color) spectrum. The reason why manufacturer put in the UV/IR filter in the first place was to eliminate this color shift that you are seeing now. That is why infrared photographs are shot on black and white films; so that you can see the "strange" UV/IR effect, but won't be distracted by the "strange" color shift. Use B/W mode on your DSC-P92 (or convert your color photo to B/W in a photo editing software). I found the Sepia mode to provide even more pleasing effect.

Did you replace the UV/IR filter with a plain glass that is the exact same thickness? The thickness of the glass will effect focus distance. As long as the glass are roughly the same thickness, your auto-focus should be fine. The UV/IR ray are going to shift the focus distance slightly anyway. I don't have any problems with my auto focus when I replaced the filter with a glass that is the same thickness. In fact, there is now "more light" for the auto-focus sensor.
