DSC-S40 Settings and Menu has Gone Mad

I have one of these but no manual - something went wrong - for a while it was an absolute pain but I dropped it [onto deep pile carpet] and it starte working again but the settings have changed. when I try to access the menu it shows all sorts of symbols. I don't know what they meen I haven't got a mahual - also the Windows Wizard on three computers no longer sees the camera - can anybody help?
