DSC-W12 won't power on with a full battery

I have the SONY DSC-w12. It won't power on with a full battery! I can view the images, but whenever I try to take a picture (or record movie) it turns off.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

How long have you had the camera? Do you use rechargeable battery with it? If you had it for a long time, it could be because the battery is old. Rechargeable batteries don't last forever. After a while, they no longer hold charge. When that happens, you'll have to get a new battery for your camera.

There are no error code of any kind? Maybe one or more battery cells are defective. Try a different set of batteries. What kind of battery does it use?

I tried all kinds of batteries. No error code at all :-(

A defective battery cell sounds like a possibility.
