Hi.
I am a first time user of Sony 5.0 DSC P92.
I was given this camera by a friend as he cannot operate it and thinks something is wrong.
It came with the standard AA batteries.
1- When i press the power there is a grenn light that coems on and goes off (Is this normal?)
2- Do i need to insert a memory card to operate the LCD (LCD does not come on)
3- I heard that Sony memory chips are expensive (Is there a generic brand as i am just a beginner)
4- Seems like the camera may have been dropped as there is a tiny dent on the zoom. (Zoom will not operate).
Is there any advice from the members on this forum. Will appreciate any input.
Thanks.

It sounds like the stuck lens syndrome that other have reported. Take a look at the "Sony DSC-P92 with stuck lens" TrackBack below.

Weblog: Camera Hacker
Excerpt: Hi. I was given a Sony 5.0 P92 camera as it was not working. When i press on the Power. It comes on with a green light and then goes off. The zoom seems to be stuck. LCD will not come on. Is this camera no good or can Sony fix this. Will it be worth to fix the camera or to buy one. Live in Canada . . .
