Sony Cybershot DSC S30
I have 2 of these models and the problem is with the on/off switches. They seem to turn on/off at random. Ive charged my batteries, even bought a brand new one yesterday 8/26/06, thinking that maybe the older batteries were all burnt out from recharging. I first charged the new battery and when I inserted it into the camera, the camera came on, shut off repeatedly. Please help. Thanks, Mike

Bought a new battery charged it, put it in the camera and within 5 minutes the battery was dead, as if something was on that should not have been.
More problems with SONY. Sony products have turned out to be garbage. What a same.

I have had the same problem since July, 2006 as well. I have two batteries and neither of them will charge because the power will not turn off.
Contacted Sony and they told me to reset the camera but the DSC-S30 is not like the newer Cybershots, so it was of no help. Let the camera sit for a month without power or battery and the camera's clock did reset so I guess the whole thing reset.
Power still not turning off.
Thinking of putting on ebay as a "If you want to tinker" item. Sony has said they can take it and look at it but I had to pay them $170 to do so.
Not going to pay them more that the price of a new camera to fix a older model.

I have a DSC- P72, and I have the same battery + power on/off problem. I have used it for 3+ years without any problem until a few months ago, it wouln't shut off with new batteries. Sometimes, with fulling charged battery,it will display low battery after a few pictures...
