Sony F717 Remote Trigger

Hi,

I have recently made an infra red beam trigger for my F717 that is wired to the contacts on my RMDR1 remote controller, all worked fine, my gadget turned on the camera, took a few pictures during a minute and then turned the camera off again... my gadget bridged 2 connections on the RMDR1 shutter button, which seemed to focus the camera and take the picture.. I don't know if this is coincedence or not but my CCD seems to be broken now - I just get multicoloured lines on the screen... anybody any thoughts, experience on either the problem I have, or hacking the RMDR1 remote controller switch ? I need to know my gadget didn't break the cmaera before I pay out to get it repaired..

Help !
