Rebel or N70

I'm looking to buy a camera, but can't decide which is best in my price range (under $500). I'm not too experienced with photography, and I was wondering if you could send me your opinion if you get the chance. I am thinking about a Canon Rebel or Nikon N70. Thanks much.
