hotshoe hacking?

I am looking at ways to hack the hotshoe mount so that I can generate triggers whenever I press my camera trigger halfway down.

Does that HDC book cover this? I know that there are lot's of different proprietary standards among the different brands and models....

That's a very interesting idea. I know the Canon Speedlite hot shoe has five pins; four signals and one ground. It's probably not hard to put a multimeter on each of the four signal pins and the ground pins to see what they produce when you hole the shutter button down half-way.

I'll have to give that a try when I'm at home.
