Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/2.8 ED VR II -- An Astonishing Telephoto Lens

Nikon is a Japanese multinational corporation and they are specialists in optics and imaging products. Nikon is well known for cameras, binoculars, microscopes, measurement instruments and steppers used in photolithography. Nikon launched their new super telephoto lens featuring latest image stabilization system called Nikon AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 ED VR II SLR (Single Lens Reflex) lens.

The lens gets constructed with a combination of 11 elements in eight groups. The dimensions of the lens are 124 x 268 mm (4.9 x 10.5 inches) (diameter x length). The focal length of the lens is 300 mm. This lens gets constructed by using the die-cast magnesium. The lens front element gets protected by the defensive meniscus glass. The maximum and minimum apertures of this lens are f/2.8 and f/22 respectively. The lens offers 8.2 degree diagonal angle of view. It contains nine diaphragm blades within it. The filter thread size is 52 mm.

The II at the end represents the Nikon's re-tooled and revamped technology called vibration reduction technology. Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 lens has a nice lens design and contains VR II image stabilization which provides maximum performance. VR II avoids the image blur and reduces the camera shake. VR II supports telephoto magnification and allows the users to shoot up to a maximum of four shutter speed stops and overcome the challenges of handheld shooting.

The closest focusing distance is 2.3 m (AF) and 2.2 m (MF). Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 get added a feature of A/M focus mode which allows the fast, secure switching facility from automatic and manual focus while shooting. It has a silence wave motor which renders a smooth operation. While tripod shooting, the tripod detection mode detects and compensate the tripod specific vibrations. Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 contains a nano crystal coat which prevents ghosting and flare and offer great image clarity.

Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 includes three extra low dispersion glass elements which offer superb sharpness, color and great image quality. The users can use the AF recall mode by pressing a single button that instantly returns to the predetermined point of focus and capture the expected shots with ease. Photographers can select three focus modes according to the shooting conditions which include manual mode, new A/M mode and autofocus with manual priority mode.

The lens is tightly sealed so that the dust and moisture cannot affect the lens operation. The lens weighs 2900 grams (102.3 ounces). Nikkor lenses offer greater fidelity and excellent sharpness while taking images. Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 ED VR II lens is very advanced and its fast focal length aperture is very suitable for nature and wild life photography, sports and for all professional photographers.
