Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4D IF-ED Lens

the price has dropped to below 400 euros, this is a very interesting telephoto lens for the hobbyist. Is this the right lens for everyone? No, if you have a compact, lightweight lens looks and not often you go to 300mm you're probably better off with the little brother, the 55-200. This is a fairly heavy lens, and certainly with a D3000 you still have some weight to your neck. Looking just a bit more range and better picture quality than you find in Sigma's this lens is definitely worth considering.

After the Nikon 70-300 Sigma 70-300 APO G and this is my third Nikon telephoto zoom. Looking back at my archives, it is clear that this lens is a class better than its predecessors. The Nikon 70-300 G was a drama with CA, the Sigma did better but was very slow to focus.
