Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4G ED VR Lens

Nikon introduced a super telephoto lens incorporating its exclusive vibration reduction VR II technology called Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4G ED VR Lens. The lens get constructed with a combination of 14 elements in 11 groups including three ED glass elements, one nano crystal coat and one meniscus protective glass element. The dimension of the lens is 139.5 x 391 mm (5.5 x 15.4 inches) (diameter x length). The focal length range of the lens is 500 mm. The minimum aperture of the lens is f/22 and the maximum aperture is f/4. The picture can be viewed with this lens at a maximum angle of 3 degrees 10 minutes for DX format camera and 5 degrees for FX format camera.

The maximum reproduction ratio offered by the lens is 0.14x. The filter size of the lens is 52 mm. It bears nine diaphragm blades in it. The closest focusing distance of the lens is 4.0 m (13.1 ft) in AF mode and 3.85 m (12.6 ft) in MF mode. The VR II vibration reduction system enables the handheld shooting up to four shutter speeds slower and ensures sharper still images and excellent video capture. The new tripod detection mode reduces the vibration nicely that occur during the shutter release when mounted on a tripod. The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) provides ultra high-speed autofocusing with perfect accuracy and it has a super quiet operation.

The nano crystal coat and meniscus protective glass element combines and reduces the ghosting and flare effectively and provide greater image clarity. The three extra low dispersion (ED) glass elements control the chromatic aberrations and give sharp images with enhanced color even at the widest aperture range. This lens is lightweight and highly reliable. It features a magnesium die-cast barrel and superb dust and moisture resistant construction. The A/M focus mode is used to switch between auto and manual focus operation. The focus preset function recalls the focus preset points by just a push of the button. The lens hood minimizes the stray light effectively. The lens gets mounted on a Nikon F-bayonet mount.
