Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G SLR Lens - An Ample Lens

Nikon is a Japanese multinational corporation well known for optics and imaging products. They also produce cameras, microscopes, measurement instruments, binoculars and steppers used in photolithography. Nikon released its new lens having various features called Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G SLR (Single Lens Reflex) Lens.

The lens gets built with a combination of eight elements in seven groups. The dimension of this lens is 73.5 x 54.2 mm (2.9 x 2.1 inches) (D x L). This lens has the maximum aperture of f/1.4. The minimum aperture of this lens is f/16. The diagonal angle of view of this lens will be 46 degree (at FF) and 31 degree (at APS-C). It has a non-rotating filter and the size of the filter is 58 mm. The maximum magnification offered by this lens is 0.15x.

AF-S 50mm f/1.4G NIKKOR contains nine aperture blades in it. The minimum focus distance of the lens is 0.45 m. The lens hood is Nikon HB-47 and it is barrel shaped. The lens features an ultra compact silent wave motor. The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) is ring type and it provides fast and accurate focusing. It enables the autofocus feature in cameras without a built-in motor. The silent wave motor offers smooth autofocus (AF) operation.

It includes a circular aperture diaphragm which gives attractive background and avoids the blur in the images. The rounded diaphragm blades make the out of focus elements to appear natural. The optical system is newly developed and it delivers high performance. This lens perfectly fits with the Nikon DSLR cameras such as D3 and D700. The chromatic aberration (CA) and flare get corrected efficiently in this lens. This lens has a slight barrel distortion, but it is negligible with the performance.

This lens offers more sharpness around the corners. The aperture is very fast to use. AF-S 50mm f/1.4G NIKKOR lens contains two focus modes. They are manual priority autofocus (M/A) and manual focus (M). The front element does not rotate and the barrel length does not change. The polarizer can be easily used. The lens provides great image quality. This lens offers standard coverage and it can be mounted upon DX bodies like D60 and D90.

The supplied accessories comes with this AF-S 50mm f/1.4G NIKKOR are front and rear caps, HB-47 bayonet hood and CL-1013 lens pouch. This AF-S 50mm f/1.4G lens weighs 290 grams (10.2 ounces).
