The Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 is a small and light Canon wireless remote flash controller and focus assist device. You can use a Canon Speedlite flash with high capability device such as Canon Speedlite 580EX Flash or Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2. Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 and the flashes will simultaneously any number of slave flashes. It controls two channels. The ST-E2 allows ratios from 8:1 to 1:1 to 1:8 to be selected in 1/2 stop increments. It is sufficient for most common people. Its few important features are:
a)It supports 45 focus points.
b)It has effective distance range 30' in the centre to 16.5' in the periphery.
c)It supports high speed flash.

It has less size and less weight (weight 3.5 oz without battery). The battery used in this device is 2CR 6V. It lasts about 1,500 transmissions at room temperature. So it is very durable in nature. While buying Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 device you have to keep in mind that it comes without the CR2 6V battery. So buy the battery of exact make separately for effective action.
This device has missed in some features which are its drawbacks. It is not Flash Exposure Bracketing enabled and does not allow manual flash out put to be controlled by the master.
So this device is an effective flash controller though it has some limitations.
