key fob camera

I've seen some clever stuff on here. Hope you guys can help.

I can't afford a super duper action camera and the review on these:

is frankly superb for the price. What I would like to know is if I remove the internal mic and wire up a jack socket to the terminals used for it and connected an external mic, would it work ok?

I want to attach the camera to my motorbike and have the microphone fitted in the tail piece to pick up bike sound and not wind blast sound.
