"reinsert the cassette" as a warning on Sony DCR-TRV280

I have four Sony Digital8 cameras; one of my 280's has started flashing a WARNING whoch says REINSERT THE CASSETTE repeatedly. The cassette also jams up when ejected, and several "reattach the power supply" commands are given, and several tries are needed to free the tape.
WHat is this, and how does one correct it?

I have the solution to this problem
I do also had he same problem.I repaired myself.
You can repair yourself if you have a MOTOROLA CELL PHONE CHARGER,whose pin
MUST BE in the shape i am providing.Firstly(the camera is in off position),
you insert the pin into the USB SOCKET,which is inside a panel, just below & left
of the flash light, which suits the motorola pin. Then remove the batterey. Now
switch on the charger(nothing happens). Then insert the batterey.Switch on the
camera. Now it will work. You must first take a photo, then only proceed to take video.
IT WILL NOW WORK

Thanks. I do have a motorola cell phone charger, but your picture did not come through on my iMac. I solved my problem by giving it a slight whap on the bottom of the camera, and it has been working fine every since... But I will keep your post, anyway...

First, spanking the camera and telling it that it was bad, did not help. lol

The USB trick worked great for me though. Thank you very much Rakesh! I thought my camera was done for.

Rakesh, the USB trick did not work.
I am confused about something when you say
"Now switch on the charger(nothing happens). Then insert the batterey.Switch on the camera. Now it will work."
Should I remove the pin or leave it plugged in and the charger switched on before inserting the battery and switching on the camera?
In my case I removed the pin and it did not work.
I would appreciate your help with this case.

I had the same "REINSERT THE CASSETTE" issue. Happy to report the the spanking technique fixed it!! I did it with the camcorder OFF and no cassette installed.
