Canon Digital Camera Software Developers Kit Update Information
Effective January 23, 2006, Canon PowerShot-Remote Capture Software Developers Kit (PS-ReC SDK) Version 1.1 for Windows 98SE/2000/Me/XP is available for registered developers residing in the Americas. This new SDK supports PowerShots S80 and A620 exclusively.
What's New in PS-ReC SDK 1.1
* Supports Remote Capture functions exclusively (for S80 and A620 only)
* Allows shutter button operation while tethered (for S80 and A620 only)
PS-ReC SDK 1.1 does not replace CD-SDK 7.3. In fact, if your custom software application supports compatible USB PowerShots released before the 2nd Half of 2005, it will be necessary to use CD-SDK 7.3 for those models. For more information, be sure to read the PS-ReC SDK Software Developers Guide document bundled with the PS-ReC SDK.
PLEASE NOTE: PowerShots A410, A610, S10, S20, SD10, SD20, SD200, SD300, SD400, SD450, SD500 and SD550 do not support remote control or video out operation, and for these models, these functions cannot be accessed through the SDK. All other USB PowerShots announced through 12/31/2005 support remote control and most recent models support video out via the SDK.
(CD-SDK 7.3 for PowerShot digital cameras is not being updated at this time, and will remain available to registered developers through our password-protected web site. Canon Inc. has not set a firm release date for the next version of the CD-SDK. Registered developers will be notified whenever new SDKs are available.)
Even though you are a registered developer, it is still necessary to submit a new SDK application in order to confirm your acceptance of the SDK License Agreement for PS-ReC SDK 1.1. To submit a new SDK application, please visit our website at:
Canon Digital Camera Software Developers Kit General Information
(PLEASE NOTE: PS-ReC SDK 1.1 is available as of January 23, 2006, but the SDK general information page on our web site may not be updated until later in the week. Do not let this stop you from submitting a new SDK application if you wish to download PS-ReC SDK 1.1.)
Thanks for developing software for Canon Digital Cameras!
Best Regards,
Canon U.S.A., Inc.

PS: The RC-SDKs for EOS Digital SLRs will be updated later this year. If your custom software supports EOS cameras only, there is no need to submit a new SDK application at this time.

Attention PowerShot Software Developers:
Neither PS-ReC SDK 1.1 nor CD-SDK 7.3 for PowerShot digital cameras is being updated at this time. Both of these versions will remain available to registered developers through our password-protected web site.
As an update, PowerShots A410, A420, A430, A530, A540, A610, A700, S10, S20, SD10, SD20, SD30, SD200, SD300, SD400, SD430, SD450, SD500, SD550, SD600, SD630 and SD700 IS do not support remote control or video out operation via the SDK. Basic downloading for these models is possible via WIA on the Windows platform and Image Capture on Mac OS X. The PowerShots S3 IS, S80 and A620 can be accessed via PS-ReC SDK 1.1, while the PowerShot S2 IS and many older models can be accessed via CD-SDK 7.3. Please see the SDK General Information section of our web site to review the new SDK feature compatibility charts for more information.
Going forward, Canon Inc. informs us that they plan to limit SDK support for future PowerShots to the top-of-the-line A-series model and higher models excluding the Digital ELPH series. The next PS-ReC SDK is not expected until December, 2006, and we do not expect any further versions of the CD-SDK. As always, registered developers will be informed as new SDKs become available.

I'm from the Korea and i'v been trying so hard to find the PS-Rec 1.1 SDK because only a very few Canon outlets in the Korea is distributing it. I applied for it at Canon USA and Europe but for some reason they refused to send me a copy.
