Get focused distance from camera

Hello
I need to get focused distance from PowerShot G6 camera.(distance
between camera and subject).
Is it possible to get to get focused distance by sdk?

Well the canon SDK allows you to increase/decrease zoom. Its a camera parameter... but for the actual focused distance I believe not (I am pretty sure about that). What you can do is calibrate the camera to obtain the focal point (which would be the actual focused distance). There are 3 major algorithms for this and requires a chess board piece, just google camera calibration, you will def. find matlab programs for it. There might be a couple of libraries (OpenCV originally created by intel but now open source - not good at calibrating camera the MATLAB programs are better).
