Canon Digital Camera Software Developers Kit Update Information

Effective September 22, 2005, general distribution of Canon Remote Camera API Software Developers Kit (RC-SDK) Version 8.4 for Windows 98SE/2000/Me/XP and Mac OS X 10.2 - 10.4 (including Tiger) will begin for registered developers residing in our sales area.

Newly supported cameras include: EOS-1D Mark II N and EOS 5D. In addition, the following models remain supported: EOS-1Ds Mark II, EOS-1D Mark II, EOS-1Ds, EOS-1D, EOS 20D, EOS 10D, EOS D60, EOS D30, EOS Digital Rebel XT/350D, and EOS Digital Rebel/300D.

New features in RC-SDK 8.4 include limited support for the Picture Style function of the EOS-1D Mark II N and the EOS 5D.

Even though you are a registered developer, it is still necessary to submit a new SDK application in order to confirm your acceptance of the SDK License Agreement for the new SDK.

(CD-SDK 7.3 for PowerShot digital cameras is not being updated at this time, and will remain available to registered developers through our password-protected web site. Canon Inc. has not set a firm release date for the next version of the CD-SDK, but based on past experience we do not expect anything until November or December, 2005 at the earliest. Registered developers will be notified when the new CD-SDK is available.)
