Canon SDK 8.4 Developers Question

I have written a C++ wrapper for the Canon SDK 8.4 and have encountered a problem with RCSetAvValue(hSource, cdREMOTE_SET_AV3_35) using a Canon EOS Rebel XT 350D with a standard EF-S 18-55mm lens with the dial set to Av. I receive a cdInvalid_Parameter when I execute the aforementioned function. I speculate the problem is the 350D does not support setting this value. However, I am unable to locate anyone or any documentation to support the theory. Canon is reluctant to provide assistance as per their license agreement ("NO SUPPORT").

Any assistance/direction would be greatly appreciated.
