Canon PowerShot zoom: what-you-see-is-what-you-get

I am working on a front end for our application software so that we can use the Canon Powershot cameras.

I'm having a spot of trouble getting the ViewFinder to return the "zoomed" image to the pc - my users need to zoom and need to see what they are taking (I need to have 'what-you-see-is-what-you-get).

If you have any sources of information on this, then yes, I have some in the works...
