Okay, here's what happened :( My husband and I were married this summer, and my husband's family had a big reception up here in Wisconsin for us since his family and friends were unable to make it to a reception in my home state, Ohio.
We used our new digital camera to take pictures. We were using a 256 mb "sandisk" memory card/stick. One moment my husband was viewing the pictures just fine.. then he wanted to put them on his parents' computer, so we used this "sandisk" to move the files onto his computer. Well, during the process an error message appeared. None of the pictures would show up on the computer, and when we tried placing the card back into our digital camera it wouldn't let us do anything, it just read "format error". We had ALL of our reception photos on there, that's why we're so afraid that we may have lost all of them :(
We never ran across this problem before, but this was our first time using the "sandisk" removable device. We know it isn't a problem with our camera, because it's reading our 32 mb memory disk just fine.
I've tried a couple of "data recovery" programs already, but they didn't help. When placing the memory disk into the card reader ("sandisk"), the computer acknowledged that there isat least 241 mb of memory on there, and the jpg files are there, but there's no way to view them at all... even trying different photo software..
So... can you help?! :( If you have any advice, please let us know. We'd hate to lose all of these precious pictures, esp. since we rarely get to see his family, and it's possible we'll never see some of these people again... we had some photos we really loved on there.

So sorry to hear that, Heidi. Those are the most precious moments.
Have you tried some of the undelete utilities out there with your memory card reader? Such as the old DOS "undelete.exe" utility.

I found a freeware undelete software called Restoration for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. It can be downloaded here.
