I have an Olympus camera with an Olympus xD Memory Card M+ 2GB. The MC doesnt have a lock on it. I had this happen once before and thought maybe my memory card was defective, but now it has happened again and i dont want to lose the pix on it. If I use my scanner to retrieve pix (has the memory card slots on it) I have NO issues at all. I can retrieve all pix and clear the card, etc... Everything is normal. But when I used the drive on the side of my lap-top, with the first MC, it copied 5 pix and then I got the MC is right protected box. When I put the MC back in the camera, after I delete those 5 pix. It will say no photos. I can only take 5 pix and the MC is full. So basically the 5 pix that were loaded before the write protected message came up, are fine. But the 500 after that are now right protected. The camera will not show them but if I put the disk in the computor OR the scanner, it will show that it has 505 pix but will only bring up the 5. I can not get a way to remove the right protection and dont know how it was put on the MC in the first place. So I figured that the MC went bad. I bought a new MC. It has worked fine for months, but I usually use the scanner. I was out of the house and needed to email some pix, so I took the newer card out of the camera with 509 pix on it. I put it in the side of the laptop in the designated drive. It copied 126 and then came up with the right protected message again. This memory card is the same kind and again does NOT have a way to switch the protection on and off. Now if I put it in the camera, it says NO pictures. And when I put the MC in the scanner port, it will say that there is 509 and only bring up the 126 that were transfered before the right protection message appeared. It seems to me that maybe the computer is placing a right protection on it but it can not do that when the scanner is used even though the two are connected by a USB cable. Has anyone ever had this happen or heard of it. Again, I dont want to lose these pix, some are irreplacable. How do I remedy this? Obviously now I know that it is the laptop drive and NOT a defective disk. I would also like to fix the laptop if I can as sometimes I need to download pix when Im away from the house, office, or scanner. Any Ideas anyone???? Here is info on the card itself. The 1GB card that is pictured is actual size. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XD-Picture_Card Again.... any help woould be appreciated :)
