Pictures Show on Digital Camera, But Not When the Camera is Plugged In

Hi! i have a weird problem with my digital camera. i can see the pictures on the camera, but when im plugging it into a computer to download them, it shows as the card is empty. the same if im trying to put the card into another camera. is this a card error or its just a settings matter?
