microSD to Memory Stick Duo Adapter

Hi.

I bought a Transcend 2 GB MicroSD with an adapter to Memorystick Pro Duo.

Unfortunately my Sony DSC-H5 does not accept the combination. I have also tried with MicroSD cards of other brands (various sizes), but no luck there neither.

Sometimes the combination of camera and memory card (in it's adapter) works, but more often not.
Also formatting the memory card in the camera, does not bring the solution.

The error given but the camera is "Format error" & "C:13:01".

So I guess I'll stick to the actual Memorystick type of cards.

I ran across your article, microSD to Memory Stick Duo Adapter. I have an older camera and was wondering if you ever found out if the sony adaptor coupled with a SDmini would work with older non-pro devices?

The adapter I got only works as a Memory Stick PRO Duo. I tried it with my 32 MB TransFlash card in my Sony Clie PEG-SL10/U PDA. The PDA is a older device that only works with the older Memory Stick and Memory Stick Duo (not the PRO versions). And the combination just doesn't work.

I don't know if the adapter is a pass-through or if it's got conversion circuits in side. I suspect that it's just a pass-through. If I'm right, then the Memory Stick PRO is really just using the SD Card standard in a different physical form-factor. And that may explain why even the 32 MB microSD card doesn't work as a Memory Stick.
