Canon 870IS 8MP Digital Camera $297 w/Free Shipping @ Dell

If you're looking for a new digital camera... my personal recommendation would be the Canon 870IS.

Dell has it for $297. Shipping is also FREE.

I own the 800is. The 870is is the next verision of it, except more megapixels and bigger LCD screen. It's a good camera. Trust me. Some key features...

*** 8 Megapixel

*** 28mm - 105mm lens (28mm is considered wide angle. most cameras start at 35mm. with 28mm you can get more in the picture without having to back up until you fall off the cliff)

*** IS in 870is stands for Image Stabilization. it helps with camera shake or when you're taking pictures without the flash. trust me this is a feature you don't think about but you need it.

*** Face detection (it will detect faces that are looking into the lens and focus on the faces. or the best focus if there are multiple faces)

*** 3.0 LCD screen (nice big screen on the back to look at)

*** Cool pictures features, like taking pictures with only one color showing, or swapping colors, stitching pictures to create one long picture for landscapes...

If you are wondering, why not get a higher model like the 900is. Well first of all, you don't need 12 megapixels, really you don't even need more than 4 or 5, maybe even 3 would be good for most people. Secondly, it you lose out on the wide angle 28mm lens that the 870is has. Also, compared to other digital camera brands and makes, some of the features listed above are unique to canon that you won't find with sony, or olympus, etc.

Here's the link from Canon's site...

Here's Amazon's site for the 870is. You can read the customer reviews there. You'll see the good reviews it gets.

Apparently forgot to mention a few things. This deal ends NOVEMBER 15th.

Also, this version doesn't have an optical viewfinder, which normally on a camera is where you put your eye to look at what you're taking a picture of, before they had these LCD screens on the back of digital cameras. You probably never use this anyway. The very few times you will need it are for occassions like classical concerts or dark theaters, etc, where you don't want to or aren't allowed to turn on the bright screen. So you keep it off and look through the viewfinder to take the picture without a flash, but if it's that dark, your pricture probably won't come out well anyway.

If you find a better deal, please let me know. Again, this is my personal recommendation, so do your homework. What suits me might not be what you're looking for.
